Networking Consultant
The networking consultant role is a part of our advanced networking practice team and provides end-to-end management of our customer’s networking needs. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities, performing technical sales tasks and the delivery of networking technology engagements in our advanced networking consulting practice. The candidate will own issues, propose solutions and escalate to senior consultant or architect-level resources as needed in the topic areas of enterprise routing and switching, unified communications , network security and wireless communications.
Essential Functions
The candidate’s tasks will involve:
- meeting with client and prospect staff of all levels to determine:
- potential needs
- project requirements and scope
- existing system specifications
- work practices
- technical requirements
- managing networking solution process by:
- designing solutions in conjunction with sales and networking team
- presenting solutions in written or oral reports
- testing, installing, integrating and monitoring new systems
- documenting solution for client consumption
- maintaining post engagement relationship
Required skills
• Thorough understanding of and ability to troubleshoot layer 2, layer 3, spanning tree and quality of service issues
• Thorough understanding of and ability to troubleshoot routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP and OSPF
• Thorough understanding of and ability to troubleshoot Cisco firewalls such as PIX and ASA
• Thorough understanding of and ability to troubleshoot Cisco Unified Communications technology such as voice gateways, Cisco Communications Manager, Unity Voicemail and MeetingPlace Express.
• Thorough understanding of and ability to troubleshoot WAN/MAN/CAN infrastructures, such as ATM, MPLS, Frame-Relay, T1 / E1, DS3, wireless bridges and remote access such as VPN
• Thorough understanding of and ability to utilize packet capturing tools
• Knowledgeable in the topics of commonly integrated server and storage systems such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Exchange, VMWare, SAN/NAS, iSCSI, FiberChannel, RADIUS, TACACS+, NTP, and backup technologies.
Required education and experience
• Bachelor’s degree• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP or CCNA)
• Cisco Certified Voice Professional (preferred)
• +4 years working in networking consultant role
